I'm proud to be an African American.

Being African American is a blessing. The reason why I'm saying this is because I was born for a reason and my ethnicity shows who I am. My skin color is beautiful, I love my completion, my beautiful pain in the butt hair, I love every inch of myself, and it took me a while to love myself. Growing up I grew up with mostly white kids, there were a few here and their different races but it was mostly a white community. Friends I had I always wanted their hair; their straight to the bone hair that doesn't blow up from humanity. It took me about two hours just to straighten my hair and I hated it. I would always get my hair done because I wasn't confident with my hair, I didn't want to be different from the rest. It took me moving to love my natural hair and myself. Being bullied brought me up, it made me stick up for myself and not care what people thought, I was bullied to the point I was put down for my race. You would think kids wouldn't be that cruel to bring your race into a situation, but people will be people. As I moved I had someone tell me that my hair was beautiful and I should wear it naturally. Being at a way different type of school where I could actually embrace my natural hair I was just in awe. That next day I wore my hair naturally with some product in it because I needed a little but that day I felt so good about myself, that this is me, this is who I am. Today I want everyone to embrace their ethnicity, their beautiful race. African American's I feel are the most beautiful human beings because we know our skin is what makes us and that's true beauty. I'm a seventeen-year-old African American girl and I'm proud to be who I am.
